Folks, I do suspect that what you've put down as "side door pulling" in Never Tire Of The Road, is actually "Side Door Pullman." Those of us over here who travel with the Wobbly sensibility are accustomed to the phrase. It is hobo nomenclature for a boxcar on the train. The doors on the boxcar are on the side.

The "Pullman Car" is a sleeping car --- plush accommodations. -- Part of the rolling stock on the railroad and was made by the Pullman Sleeping Car Company on the far South Side of Chicago actually in the area of town called Pullman. The actual Pullman Cars were quite classy and always had immaculately dressed Negro porters on board to take care of passengers.

Actually, a well known elderly hobo, recently passed away, used that phrase as his hobo moniker/name. As long as I knew him, he was known only as Side Door Pullman to the other 'bos hanging out at the yearly hobo convention in Britt, Iowa.
