I remember reading somewhere that some professor had calculated that any person in the world can be no more distant than an 11th cousin from anybody else. I also recall that as a younger man I heard said, "The more things change the more they remain the same." Thought it was foolish at the time, but now that I am (more than) a few years older, I am beginning to see the sense of that.
