That's actually pretty bad Bobert, I have friends who have a borderline "special" son who lent his friends the keys for his mother's car, which they then wrapped into oncoming traffic, and now she is being charged by the police with permitting the use of a vehicle without insurance (since of course the insurance was invalidated).

I was a bad boy at university, with cars and bikes, but I didn't dump the car owners in it.
