In my case I think it's going to be the root stock that'll be the devil to get rid of, as well as the part that will destroy my water pipes if I don't thoroughly remove it from its present location. The shoots from that original root stock are getting quite large (2-3 in. in diameter) and the branches with the catkins are pretty sturdy too.
