I suspect that the one across from Rochester station that you mention is Andy's Cafe. I know someone who stayed there for some time and, to the best of my knowledge, it's not that bad. You also get a nice greasy spoon breakfast there, and I think it's fairly cheap.

And it is, of course, bloody handy for the station, and not much more than five minutes' walk from The Good Intent.
