Yeh, I signed up with Facebook when I thought Mudcat would be down for awhile to join the Mudcat Group there. It very quickly seemed like way too much for my tastes. Maybe I'm just not that social, but it felt very awkward and uncomfortable. I didn't like having my mailbax jammed with notifications, and didn't want to take the rather extensive amount of time it would have taken to figure out what to turn off, and what not to. Also, I am one of those people pleasers that feels guilty if some one I know and like makes a request. All the thingies that people would send and ask you to send back so a dollar would get contributed somewhere drove me nuts. I resented getting them, and felt guilty about ignoring them.

The Wall, and 25 random things seemed really weird. Who the heck cares what I might be doing at any given point in time, and, truth be known, there aren't 25 uniquely interesting things about me that are worth sharing with 300 of my closest "friends."

'course, I'm pretty lousy at small talk and general casual socializing in 3-D. Not surprising the same is true on the Web.

Mudcat is enough for me, and it is much easier to titrate!
