Thread Name: Lyr Add: Los Cuatro Muleros + Los Cuatro Generales
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Los Cuatro Muleros & Los Cuatro Generales
The way it was generally sung in 1940-60s New Zealand by left-wing students is pretty close to Abby Sale's version, but with some differences:

Los Cuatro Generales...
Qué se han alzado.

The four insurgent generals...
They tried to betray us.

At Christmas holy evening...
They all will be hanging.

Madrid you wondrous city...
They wanted to take you.

But your courageous children...
They did not disgrace you.

And all your tears of sorrow...
We shall avenge them.

And all your age-old bondage...
We'll break it asunder.

I wonder who created these English verses - they are brilliant poetry in their own right.
