I am not sure it is harmless fun,as a matter of fact I have always thought the cartoons portrayed the uk folk club scene in a very negative way[probably not the cartoonists intention].
but something that would undoubtedly appeal to anyone who was anti folk clubs,and anti Mudcat, which might be a possible explanation for their promotion,would they be promoted by froots if it was froots who was being satirised,I dont think so,from my own personal experience,criticism is not something he[not the cartoonist] encourages.

humour is a very personal thing, some people like one thing some something else.
