Thread Name: Permathread of Memorable Passing/Postings?
Subject: RE: Permathread of Memorable Passing/Postings?
OK; thanks for your vote(s) of confidence.

It looks like I'm volunteering to get such a Permathread going as its moderator. I'll PM Joe for his advice on the technicalities. I think I can muster much of the excessive reasonableness tempered with large doses of thoughtfulness recommended by Susan but it's quite likely I'll need some assistance to acquire the knowledge of others (such as Kat) about the likes of Rick Fielding, Bruce O and the others that people have mentioned.

My understanding, so far, is that there is explicit support for a Permathread concentrating on "demonstrated scholarship' regarding postings on music and lore and implied (but not yet clearly expressed) support for dealing with the 'memorialising' aspect of deceased members who have helped take the Mudcat community ever closer to what it aspires to be. I reckon I can get my head around what is required for the scholarship thread but I suspect I am still too much of a newbie to be 'competent' (let alone 'masterful') about the second.

To keep the current thread succinct and on the topic of 'desirability' of such approaches to Mudcat's deceased members, I suggest that those of you who wish to offer me detailed advice on a scholarship thread do so via PMs in the first instance, although I expect it's a topic that will still bear quite a bit of public discussion on the current thread.

Cheers, Rowan
