No, it's NOT 'just in case I'm pregnant'. The whole point is that at that point she's not pregnant yet; it's 'Lest I become pregnant.' That's an entirely different kettle of fish. She's not pregnant until and unless a fertilized egg embeds in the uterus wall. The M.A. pill is to prevent that, if there should be a fertilized egg.
