I remember we had an old 78 of this song. When I was a kid (late 50's/early 60's) we used to play it on a wind up gramaphone. Sadly the 78 is long gone, but a lot of the words and tune stick in my mind. Other favourites included 'The Laughing Policeman' which was about the same era.
