When I was sixteen years old working at a soda fountain my boyfriend showed up with a bottle of gin. I had never had anything stronger than a small amount of beer or wine, and I had no idea about quantities, etc. I poured an indeterminate quantity into a grape soda, drank it, and proceeded to get very sick. I still remember my boyfriend stopping the car periodically and holding me by the back of my jeans while I leaned out of the car door and retched. I also remember sneaking up the stairs so my parents wouldn't realize anything was amiss, and the horrible sensation of lying in bed while the room spun around. To this day, I cannot stand gin. I can't even tolerate the smell. Ewwww......
