Thread Name: Origins: Turn, Turn, Turn (Pete Seeger)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Song Turn, Turn, Turn by Beatles
Ohmygawd.....Mark, when you mentioned Bach, something clicked, switched on so to speak, and I realized that A large part of his problems with excessive procreation were the fault of his wife as well. When they met he was penniless and they moved into her home which was built in the shape of a large, hi-top, button up, shoe. Though he felt like a heel, his rampant sex drive combined with her willigness, became the soul of their relationship which arched up each evening within them. Some said it would never last, that the gossip's tongues would be wagging, but the couple towed the line and somehow managed to keep a straight-laced appearance in the eye of the public.

One writer from the period wrote a little ditty about them and specifically about her flaming nymphomania.
There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children because she DID know what to do.

Attorneys were hired, and the writer, an old shriveled-up hag named Goose, decided to change it to forestall the lawsuit and another nursery rhyme was born.

But Mark???? Do we have to come clean on Kottke too?
