There's beautiful coastline all along the Pacific, especially from Ventura north on the 101 and/or old US1 (slower but far more awesome). Along the central coast are grand marine vistas. A PM to Mudlark might yield some data on folky music thereabouts. In the Bay area, ChantyRanger, Swanno, and numerous other Catters can lead you to the best music, and the tourist attractions from the redwoods to the trolley cars are innumerable.

Here in San Diego we also have some beauteous coast and beaches, a world-renowned zoo, and a variety of folk klatsches.
