Recently, I presented a themed concert - 'The Uneasy Muse: Songs of Anger and Concern' - at the 39th Top Half Folk Festival at Glen Helen/Alice Springs [Oz]. I provided transcriptions of the 25 songs for the singers. As far as I can tell from a Mudcat search, 10 of them don't seem to be available in the DT/Forum database. I might as well post those here for anyone who may be interested. I thought I found lyrics here for this first one but, if so, a Mudcat search doesn't unearth them now.

MIRACLES
(Jim Woodland)

If you sit back a while, rest and smile, and close your eyes
When you wake up, everything will be all right
Just take a little rest, get it off your chest, and close your eyes
When you wake up, everything will be all right
But they don't fool me
I don't believe in miracles
I don't believe that's true
One light
One fight
One little dance, and that's all you do
I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in lies
You don't need to fly
You just have to try
And that's all you do

I'm ready to believe that the dead will rise and the blind will see
And the sun will shine from underneath the sea
I can easily accept that a man could walk across the sky
But when they ask me to believe the rich would let the poor go free
I don't believe in miracles
And I don't believe that's true
One light
One fight
One little dance, and that's all you do
I don't believe in fairy tales
And I don't believe in lies
You don't need to fly
You just have to try
And that's all you do

I've seen your dreams nailed to a tree and left up there to die
And I'm ready to believe that one day they will rise
I can feel it in my bones, if you roll away the stones, you can step into the light
And the meek will inherit everything here, but not by being meek I fear
I don't believe in miracles
I don't believe that's true
One light
One fight
One little dance, and that's all you do
I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in lies
You don't need to fly
You just have to try
And that's all you do

Everybody knows that the yellow brick road goes straight up to the sky
And the fairy lives on top of the Christmas tree
And pigs can talk and fish can walk and dogs can probably fly
Ah but when they ask me just to wait for my reward at the pearly gate
I don't believe in miracles
I don't believe that's true
One light
One fight
One little dance, and that's all you do
I don't believe in fairy tales
I don't believe in lies
You don't need to fly
You just have to try
And that's all you do
That's all you do
