There are also parts of U.S. Highway 101 that go right along the coast and have have spectacular ocean views. In northern Oregon, my car got splashed with ocean spray when I was driving along 101 one day when the surf was particularly heavy. 101 goes right through Redwood National Park in far Northern California.
