I'm neither dead nor quite alive,
But somewhere in between.
Some parts of me are pinkish
while some others have turned green.
Some parts of me have fallen off,
while some are still connected.
But half the stuff that's still attached
looks putrid and infected.
So when I lay me down to sleep
upon my pillow soft,
I pray that come the morning
nothing new has rotted off.
