They're offering a smidgen of socialized medicine to a few people to prove what great guys they are...but they abhor the idea of providing universal medical care to the entire population through a government-run program. Why? Well, they're afraid they'd make less money that way, that's why.

That's capitalism on a large scale. Squeeze 'em dry for every last drop of blood, and then charge big for the funeral services when they finally die.
