The three main festivals for me are Sidmouth, Whitby and Fylde, and more locally there is Walton-on-the Naze.

What all these have for me is that they are in interesting places, and there's a sizeable fringe rather than just concerts with big crowds (like Cambridge), and there's a fair amount of dancing.

But it's horses for courses. Festivals come in all shapes and sizes. Therte's some more like rock festivals, and some more like village fetes.
