A quick reply to Jaquie c above (11th July 2.31pm). Ask Kendall's friend to quote the source of the assertion about anyone over 59yrs being denied treatment for heart complaints in the UK. I live in the UK, worked in the NHS for 20 years and now teach NHS staff and others at University. One of my subject areas is public policy in healthcare. I can state categorically that the assertion above is completely and utterly untrue, and sounds as if it has been fabricated by opponents of what benighted people in the USA regard as 'socialism in healthcare'. The only reason why anyone might be denied treatment for heart disease is if they were medically unfit to withstand the treatment; for example, someone who is morbidly obese needing a heart transplant, and who would be likely to die under anaesthetic. In these circumstances medical staff would help the patient to lose weight, then do the operation. Free.
Please try not to parrot these weird assertions without doing some basic research.
