Just looked it up -- it was sung by Don Cornell, a Big Band vocalist who went on to have a successful solo czreer. "Mama Guitar" was released May 1957, from the film "A Face in the Crowd", on the B side of a 45rpm record (the film's title tune was on the A side). Info from Amazon.com
