Strange thing about that book probably explained somewhere: His secret visit was in 2002, and he wrote it up in Harpers in March, 2003. Anecdotes in this July 2009 article are lifted right out of that old Harpers article. Maybe he kept right on researching for another five or six years, I dunno.
