Your assumptions about the festival are correct. The organiser has always claimed that the festival is aimed at "normal" people rather than "folkies" (if you get my drift!).

I understand that this is what Scarborough Council (who fund Seafest) have asked him to do.

There's always plenty of stuff to join in with though.
