Up until this year's holiday, I thought is was Glen Coe. I loved the wild desolateness of it.

But now I am not so certain. There were a couple of places we stopped on the drive from Gairloch to Ullapool that were just stunning. Views of the sea and the Summer Isles, big rough mountains, soft undulating pastures, and forests of giant pine trees and waterfalls. Everything I could wish for.
