The ripples I have the most delight in leaving behind are the ones which reflect the generations before me to the ones after me. These are captured in the moments when a song suddenly blooms in your brain like a hologram leaping out of its own time and into yours. It's a reason for singing--to refresh the species-song, and the race-memories, which remind us of who we are (as we have always been) regardless of the flux of circumstance, population, technology and which corner of the pool we happen to be swimming in.
