Our local council, or maybe newspaper, is issuing car stickers with the legend 'Don't Be A Tosser!', directed at litter-droppers. When I was growing up, 'tosser' was a heavy-duty swear-word, just like 'wanker' - you wouldn't let a grown-up hear you saying it. When I see the stickers, half a century drops away and feel guilty just seeing the word. (And I've worked in a dock-yard for over 30 years since then!)
