I prefer the flag of St George to the Union Jack any day. It's never been flown by an onvading or occupying army for the last four hundred years. The main association it has for me is that it's the one they fly from C of E churches when there's a church fete, and it's the one people stick out of the window when England's in the World Cup.

And of course St George has the merit of being shared as a patron saint with a whole lot of excellent countries, such as Greece. A very multicultural saint.
