That's as may be, sir; but I cannot say it speaks to your good sense to choose to live among such a nuisance population. I have lived among them, when I was mining for gold in the hills above Placerville, and we had plenty in the Maine woods when I was younger; but I learned there is a sensible choice to it, you see--not to stay among them!
