Subject: RE: Winfield 2009 - Walnut Valley Festival
Just announced on the WVA radio:

LANDRUSH WILL BE POSTPONED TO SATURDAY.

Currently explaining that water will fill the "West Campground" (Walnut Grove) up to the road nearest the entrance - i.e. all under water. The description is vague, and suggests that the person (unknown) making the announcement probably has never spent any time in camp here.

Also explaining that the "South Campground" (Pecan Grove) will be underwater south of the "first firelane." The description here is also vague (same guy), but this appears to mean the south side of the "main loop."

The peak will drop fairly rapidly according to the prediction, but two days is a pretty short time to dry out low-lying camping grounds.

They are requesting that anyone not already in lineup should consider not coming prior to Saturday, as all new arrivals will be parked on paved surfaces and there aren't many paved surfaces left.

Our impression was that they were installing "drop boxes" for electrical power in the Pecan Grove Monday and/or Tuesday. Since there is no electricity in the area expected to be flooded, I wouldn't expect them to need to move any of those. Walnut Grove boxes probably are high enough to be safe at the currently predicted crest level, but the park guys will have to be watchful.

Once again: LAND RUSH IS POSTPONED TO SATURDAY.
