There is a fine line here that some people are blurring.

I believe it is illegal to record voice and conversations. It is not illegal to record images or then all video survaillence
cameras, such as in a banks or convenience stores, would be illegal.

Also, if this is illegal, 60 Minutes has been breaking the same laws for over 40 years.
