My father would not allow us to buy her music because of her anti-war stance (he has gradually done a 180 over the years since) and by the time I was out of the house I had moved on to other music, so I was never that familiar with her. I liked her, but her voice was too high, pure and proper for me to be able to listened to more than a song or two at a time without getting bored or irritated. I really enjoyed the PBS show, and learned a bunch!

I like her voice better now. Has some grit to it.
