Speaking as a UK resident who visited Canada once we had it twice, the second time to see if they had done it right.

But talking of funny food - we were given "scrapple" in Pennsylvania. I understand they make it by taking the scrapings off the abbatoit floor and pressing it all together. Typing scrapple into the internet gives you "pork mush". Yep.
