Apologies to Lizzie for having drifted thus on this v worthwhile thread of hers — tho much of blame must go to Ebbie & Artbrooks for querying and deriding her use of 'manageress' & intro-ing concept of 'pilotess'. But to enable this thread to get back on track, I am about to start another about use of the -ess feminine ending.
