Weave & Worry (Words and Music by Jez Lowe, Copyright Lowe Life Music)

A woman's work is never over,
No back and first shift for me,
I am the mother to his children,
I clean his house no fuss, no fee.
I wash his back, I heat the water,
I am the lover for his bed,
I wait for boots upon the doorstep,
Not knowing if he's 'live or dead.

And we weave and worry, another day is done,
One shift closes and the next clocks on,
We patch up their clothes, we stitch up their wounds,
And make them ready for tomorrow,

I cheer him up in his frustration,
He breaks my heart with just a word.
I tell him all I have to offer,
He mostly acts like he's not heard.
I see him young in shirt and collar,
And me in silk and calico,
Arm in arm we go a-walking,
Through summer lanes of long ago.

They are in one of Jez' song books as well. There are two versions of the second verse, I sing

I dress him up in shirt and collar,
and he smiles in that old way,
once a year we are a family,
once a year on Gala Day.

BTW Mike and I are supporting Jez tonight at the Unison Club in Lincoln.
