Jean Ritchie is a hero of mine. Not only is she a deep and intuitive folk singer, collector,
and representative of an authentic mountain tradition, she is one of the best songwriters
around. "Blackwaters" and "The L. and N. Don't Stop Here Anymore" are song masterpieces.
They are as good as songs get.

Mary and I send healing thoughts to Jean and we hope for a speedy recovery.
