Dan- What I've done on my recording is to make "ghost" or scratch tracks. I'll do vocals with a guitar track that I erase later. This guitar could be electric guitar or acoustic. When I get the vocals fairly good, then I erase that track and can concentrate on the other tracks. The vocals being the most important will be done and you can add the rest as needed.
