Yep,
Upstairs at the Lowther for me too, just like a folk club should be, Beer Barrel tables with candles. John Smiths beer I think.
There was a singers night on Fridays was it? At the Bluebell Inn down Fossgate. Not absolutely folky but community singing of the highest order. The Bluebell is another secret jewel of York, my home town, that hasn't changed much in the 40 years I've been away from it.
Pete Maddens in High Petergate was frequented by us folkies and put on the odd folk night.
