Thread Name: Looking for Alfie Woodall
Subject: RE: Folklore: Looking for Alfie Woodall
I have known "Alf" since the early 1970's when we were members with our then wives - Annie & Helen, of the Haywain Dancers of Cadnam and then founding members of Tyynham Morris of Christchurch, Hampshire. I was Helen's singer partner for a number of years.
It wasn't until years later on a visit with Alf to his mothers that I discovered he real name was - John! When at school "Alf" was not very tall, and his nickname was "Elf" - and it sort of stuck!!
The last time I saw him was last year at Ringwood Folk Club, and he has not changed one bit.
You should be able to contact him via The Bourne River Morris web page, or at least get a contact address.
Like you Bushman, I too live miles away from my home county of Hampshire; on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA.
