In these parts only the proles bowl. The middle class wouldn't be caught dead at the bowling alley.

Real men still bond. They just don't need a self-help guru's book to do it, and they call it "fishing" or "watching football" and such terms. Hell, some even play folk/roots/old timey music together. This does not in any way detract from their "real men" cred.
