gnu, ya need to get some Quick Relief aka QR for any kind of bleeding emergency. It REALLY works in seconds. I am on warfarin so bleed easily. The hospital gave me some samples after surgery, then I bought some in a spray bottle. They even gave me nose "lollipops" for nosebleeds (one end of which was loaded with the powder.) (I've two nosebleeds this week and can't find any of the stuff in town now, so it was back to ice cubes and packed tissue up m'nose for a couple of hours!)

Did you mean you pressed to bring the blood up to the surface, then held it up to the fan so that the blowing would dry it out? Next time, ice might be easier.*bg*
