Are you talking mobile home or travel trailer? There is a big difference.

I think there are a couple of approaches to consider.

If you know you're going to finish this cleanup work in the forseeable future, but you need a place to stay while you're doing the work and while you're working on the agricultural end of things, I would consider borrowing or renting a travel trailer, as much of one as you can afford, and live like you're on a boat (they're built that way--very compact, very efficient). Don't plan to fill it with a lot of personal things, but use it as a base of operations. You do need ground rules so you don't trip over each other, but if you're outside a lot anyway, that's less of a concern.

I would buy a couple of portable buildings that are sturdy enough to be locked and not broken into easily and put those on foundations in places where you think they'll live even after the new house is built. You might even want to plumb and wire one for appliances. Treat those buildings like a compound, and when the new house is finished, the trailer moves away. I'm afraid if there is a mobile home it is too easy to move slowly, fill it up with stuff, and end up living on the property in it.

If you did bring a mobile home in, then you would have a place to store a lot of stuff, but as I said, it would be tempting to just keep the mobile home going for a while. I've lived in them a few times over the years as park housing and such, and they're okay, but they don't appreciate and there are a lot of health and safety issues with living in them.

This said, I think you should be able to do some research on EPA information about the interior air in types of mobile homes. Also look into flammable insulation and materials. There might be rentals of various years to consider, but you want one up to code so you don't have another structure burn down on the site.

Welcome to Mudcat, Chicken Lady. You'll find if you use the little Google search on the home page that there are tons of De-Clutter/Declutter threads going. We've gotten to where we do one a month and are our own small cheering section. If you're interested in music, that makes Mudcat all the better a site for you--it's the music that brought us here in the first place.
