adding this... when I was in high school, 53+ years ago, skirts were worn way below the knee, but the 'in' thing was gauzy, see-thru blouses that showed very clearly what type of bra she was wearing. Why did they 'get by' with it? Because no one had thought to ban them.
I don't remember any two piece swim suits then.
The situation began changing very quickly about the time Sputnik was launched, and the novel "Lady Chatterly's Lover" was released in the US.

There are variable 'standards', and I don't know how to evaluate them, but I DO know that censorship it rapidly dying...even as a possibility. The WWW has changed everything.....and it now shows us ...*shudder*... just what a strange species we belong to.
