My main reason for mentioning the thread was the listing there of so many of the ones already appearing on this thread. There are several here, however, that don't appear there, one of which is one from my youth. Its tune is something from opera (but the name of which I've never known) and I'm no good at dots.

A doggie stole a sausage
coz he was underfed,
the cook he saw him steal it
and now the poor doggy's dead

And all the little doggies
were very sad that night,
they made a little tombstone
and on it they did write

"A doggy stole a sausage
....
repeated for as long as can be tolerated.
