I have a desktop running on Xp. It is about three years old.

Lately it just keeps powering down regardless of what I am doing.

The thing that I don't understand is that sometimes it stays up for an hour or more and other times just a few seconds or minutes.

I know that this a simple problem for the experts out there but I wouls be grateful for any advice.
