What always interests me in these debates about the evils of the music business is the core fact that music sells. Even lousy, inane, mindless music sells. People need music and are willing to spend money buying it if they think they can't create it themselves. Even people who are labelled, in this thread for instance, as uneducated and uncultured will buy music. Visual art just doesn't have the same impact as music.
