Thread Name: What instruments do catters play?
Subject: RE: What instruments do catters play?
Winds:
- recorders (lots of them in different sizes, pitches and designs)
- Italian-type ocarinas
- whistles (most often the Hungarian double whistle)
- Moldavian kaval (for a very small repertoire)
- clarinets (mainly the Turkish low G)
- flutes (Boehm, 8-key, Boehm alto, marching fife)
- electronic bagpipes
- C melody sax (a bit)
- Armenian duduk/Azeri balaban (a bit)

Percussion:
- washboard (making a sound like a Scottish danceband drummer)
- guiro
- Middle Eastern drums (a bit): Kurdish daf, darbuka, davul
- gongs (for more or less theatrical effects)

Strings:
- oud
- cumbus
- cobza/koboz (a bit)
- Black Sea fiddle (a bit)
- autoharp (not out of the house yet)
- Afghan robab (just starting)

Keyboard:
- stylophone (which I play with the stylus between my toes as a drone for a wind instrument)

and a few other things in the pipeline.
