Same as Gaynors version, my Nan also sang it to us in the 60s, she was born 1908. It had been playing on my mind for a while and I had to look it up and found this thread!
We are in West Wales so it looks like it probably was widely known! Something that was mentioned was it could have been an Olvatinees song and that rings a bell, I think I can remember my mother saying something of the sort. Thanks a lot for sharing memories
