I would think that as the article points out, President Obama's litmus test for the new UK regime will be how strongly it supports the efforts in Afghanistan.   So far, it appears he has no reason to be displeased--but of course UK budget considerations may enter the picture soon.   But that was going to happen regardless of who "won" the UK election.

As I noted earlier, it seems quite likely that this was an election it was better to lose--for any party.   The painful budget cuts coming will alienate huge numbers of voters.
