@Janie - Moose sound a bit like down easters; and elk usually sound more Canadian.

But since the white tail range moved north both are pretty scarce in the Adirondacks; elk moreso then moose, but both, really.

And the White tail deer has maintained a genteel southern accent thorugh the generations.
