Fair cop

But this is a reluctant inclination.:-)
But then you yourself, Marcus, raised the question of definition..... The definition of folk,...and of what is a folk festival. Is it a gathering of like-minded souls or just an audience of people needing to be entertained?
The like-minded souls may well fully appreciate the output of big groups (four, more than four? your indication was "large" ensemble) but they probably appreciate more, being at a smaller event and closer to an individual or duo.
I guess what I'm saying is that I don't get awfully excited at the prospect of a big group on stage at a festival. The promoters may feel the need to put bums on seats, but my own reckoning is that when an event gets to that stage it is already too big
I acknowledge that I say all this from NZ where small generally, is beautiful
I shall try not to have any further inclinations:-)
